Welcome Message
Flow chemistry is a rapidly evolving area that draws on knowledge and integration of many interconnected disciplines, including chemistry, engineering, mathematics, biology and computational sciences. Recent advances have also clearly shown the additional benefits that could derive from the combination of flow technology with enabling technologies such as automation, robotics, PAT and aspects of software design & control.
The aim of the Italian Flow Chemistry Symposium is to build a community of the continuously growing number of Italian scientists working in the flow chemistry field by providing a dedicated event for researchers from both academia and industry. Our vision for this 2-day symposium is to bring leading experts in continuous flow technology, highlight the most interesting research and discuss future challenges in the area of organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry, biotechnology, process engineering and, to a broader extent, in drug discovery.
The third edition of the Italian Flow Chemistry Symposium (IFCS2025) will be held in Bari, from May 8th to 9th, 2025, at the Centro Polifunzionale Studenti of the University of Bari.
The IFCS aims to be the leading reference point in Italy for scientists working in Flow Chemistry, fostering collaboration between researchers from both academia and industry. This event seeks to build a solid and innovative network, creating a space for interaction and dialogue among experts in the field.
Over the course of two days, presentations by prominent international figures will cover the most advanced topics and future challenges in organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry, biotechnology, automation, and process engineering. The topics to be discussed include:
· Flow chemistry synthesis, with a focus on emerging technologies such as electrochemistry, photochemistry, and biocatalysis;
· Development of multi-step syntheses and applications in API production;
· Automated systems for medicinal chemistry and process optimization;
· The impact of machine learning, self-optimizing systems, and new analytical techniques in flow chemistry.
The program will feature Plenary and Keynote Lectures from leading international experts, as well as Oral Communications and Poster Presentations, offering young researchers from both academia and industry the opportunity to present their work.
We are looking forward to welcoming you in Bari!
